







A remarkable collection of 17th-century altarpieces. In 1394, Guy XII de Laval encouraged Franciscan monks to settle in the Faubourg Saint-Martin. Consecrated in 1407, the nave is unusual in that it has a side aisle made up of 7 gabled chapels.

In 1394, Guy XII de Laval encouraged Franciscan monks to settle in the Faubourg Saint-Martin. Consecrated in 1407, the nave is unusual in that it has a side aisle made up of 7 gabled chapels.
In the 1630s, the famous Laval architect Pierre Corbineau created the altarpieces for the side chapels and the imposing altarpiece for the high altar. The latter is a perfect example of the art of the Lavallois altarpiece, which reached its golden age in the 17th century.
