In the heart of the Mayenne region, in Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson, Raclette des Petits Monts is a unique farmhouse cheese, made by Angèle Blot from organic milk from the family farm. Plain, with pepper, wild garlic or Provençal herbs, this traditional raclette will delight your taste buds!
La Raclette des Petits Monts: a Mayenne family history!
It was in the green hills of Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson, in Mayenne, that Angèle Blot chose to return to her roots. With her brother François, she is writing a new page in the family history by launching the only farmhouse raclette cheese production in the department. The result is Raclette des Petits Monts, an organic, artisanal cheese made entirely on the farm!
The farm belonged to their grandparents. François took it over more than ten years ago and converted it to organic farming. Today, the farm's 180 cows graze freely and are fed exclusively on grass. This quality of animal life is reflected in the milk, and therefore in the taste. In the summer months, Angèle, his sister who has joined him on the farm, takes some of the fresh milk and processes it in her own workshop, directly linked to the milking parlour.
In her laboratory, each wheel is worked by hand, pressed and then slowly matured to develop its full character. The range includes a number of tasty recipes: plain, with pepper, with wild garlic, or with Provencal herbs. Whether it's for a convivial meal or an impromptu fondue, Raclette des Petits Monts promises melt-in-the-mouth goodness, richness and authenticity.
Angèle doesn't sell her products at the farm or at the weekly market, but has chosen to work with local grocery shops and supermarkets in the Mayenne region. An approach in keeping with her vision: good, local and authentic.
