Discover the Alpes Mancelles (15km), climb up to the Mont des Avaloirs lookout, the highest point in the Armorican massif. The paths are well signposted, the countryside is unspoilt and you'll discover some great viewpoints.
You can also visit Saint-Cénéri le Gerei, listed as one of France's most beautiful villages, Fresnay sur Sarthe, a small town full of character, and Saint Léonard des Bois, which also offers a host of sporting activities including canoeing, tree climbing and mountain biking. Sillé le Guillaume, a former medieval fortress, offers a peaceful town with restaurants and shops, as well as a lake in the heart of the forest which is home to the Coco beach (swimming and water sports).
As you can see, Saint Aubin du Désert, a village in the Mayenne region, is ideally situated to make the most of the Alpes Mancelles, straddling 3 départements: Mayenne, Orne and Sarthe. The nearest large town for the train or golf is Alençon, just 31km away.
