Solo exhibition
Vincent Mauger, an artist who has become a master at colonising spaces with his sculptures, is settling in Pontmain this summer. He is presenting a solo exhibition and creating a permanent work for the façade of the art centre, inspired by the star motif and evoking the cultural influence of the site.
Brick, plywood, PVC, steel... the machined materials unfold like a living organism, questioning our relationship with architecture. By playing on the mismatch of scales, and confronting the aesthetics of a virtual world with those of more traditional craftsmanship, Vincent Mauger creates spaces that are both familiar and strangely new, where the artificial meets the living.
The 1st floor showcases "Minis centre d'art": projects dreamt up by the people of Pontmain as part of workshops run by the artist since September (with the day centre, ESAT workers, unaccompanied minors, LADAPT, EPI du Bocage and St Michel school).
Vincent Mauger's work is included in numerous public collections (Frac, art libraries, museums, Centre Pompidou), and he has also created dozens of works in public spaces.
