Push open the door of this Romanesque church and discover its remarkable crypt.
Completed in the second half of the 11th century, this is the "mother" church of Château-Gontier, which was both a Benedictine priory and a parish church in the 11th century. A Romanesque church, its restoration has returned some of its original features: a wooden vaulted nave, a rare dome on pendentives above the choir, a remarkable crypt and a fine collection of wall paintings (12th and 13th centuries).
