  • Averton is located between the Alpes Mancelles and the Normandie Maine Regional Nature Park, not far from Mont des Avaloirs, the highest point in western France (alt. 417 m).

  • This route is one of 8 mountain bike circuits approved by the FFV, starting from the Les Perles mountain bike base.

Departing from the Les Perles site, the circuit begins by following the carriage road bordering the pond (the dyke).
[For mountain bikers, it is signposted in the opposite direction. You should follow the yellow markings of the Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme (yellow triangle on a white background followed by the number 2)].

This route is one of 8 mountain bike circuits approved by the FFV, starting from the Les Perles mountain bike base.

Walkers: go straight ahead, leaving the pond on your left and follow the path straight ahead, then turn right along a hedge and onto the Villaines - Averton road (very busy, take care), follow this road to the left for about 100 metres, cross it and take the dirt track for barely 1 km, and when you reach a small road, turn right towards the Grande Rivière, passing in front of the Basse Breneudière. Continue along this narrow road and take a dirt track on the right. This is the old "GR de Pays® de la Mayenne Profonde", which leads to Villaines-la-Juhel. Follow the bypass, and at the roundabout at the entrance to Villaines-la-Juhel, you can continue towards the town centre for a break. The town has a full range of shops and a few restaurants. Alternatively, cross the D119 (route d'Averton) and continue straight ahead along the ring road. At the crossroads, take the path on the right that runs alongside the road to Gesvres and Alençon. Continue along this path and admire the beautiful viewpoint on the right at "Bellevue" before reaching the Taillis de la Vaucelle. Cross the copse then continue along the path towards Haute Breneudière, down the path that leads back to the starting point at the Les Perles site.
The former farmhouse at Les Perles has been fully restored as a rural gîte and group gîte. A host of facilities (public toilets, children's play area, petanque area, covered playground, BMX track and fitness trail, etc. ) around a beautiful lake make it the ideal place to stay for sports enthusiasts and families. There's plenty of opportunity to extend your stay and try out new hikes...
