Guided tour of the organ at the Basilique Notre-Dame d'Avesnières in Laval
Granted in 1073 to the Ronceray nuns of Angers, the church of Avesnières underwent a major reconstruction campaign in the first half of the 12th century. Inspired by the model of pilgrimage churches, it had a choir marked by a corridor, the ambulatory, opening onto radiating chapels. The decoration of the capitals, largely inspired by the theme of medieval bestiary, develops in a space whose three-level elevation is based on the Mance model of Notre-Dame du Pré.
