Using a subtle interplay of cutting and welding, Caroline Corbeau creates one-off pieces of furniture in her workshop in Jublains, in which she infuses the material with a spirit that manages to give it meaning and transcend functionalism.
The desire to clean up the lines as much as possible and the vibrancy of the steel revealed by the moiré pattern of the metal are part of her artistic adventure, as is the combination of steel with other materials to generate different sensations through visual and tactile contact, while retaining the sobriety that is her hallmark.
