Owned by the Communauté de Communes de l'Ernée since 1989, Etang Neuf, located on the route de St Hilaire du Maine in Juvigné, is a 56-hectare sensitive natural area. This biologically rich site is one of the most important wintering and breeding grounds for waterfowl. 154 bird species have been recorded.
To further enhance the site, the communauté de communes has built an ornithological observatory and provided fishing facilities for people with reduced mobility.
Schools will now have access to an educational kit containing books on birds and 20 pairs of binoculars for observing birds without disturbing nesting.
Possibility of reserving the community bungalow (room + disabled toilet). Fishing available with a day pass. Bird observatory (open all year round except on hunting days).
