Celebrating 150 years of Saint-Martin church in Gorron
An exhibition looks back at the monument's past and its renovations, while a time capsule invites young and old alike to leave a trace for future generations.
Visitors will also be able to discover the church in a different way, with fun activities, a friendly picnic on the forecourt and a dictation in the style of 1875 at the media library.
The Gorronnais Heritage Conservation Association is actively involved in this event, which is also part of the European Heritage Days.
At the same time, the Espace Colmont is hosting a major exhibition of amateur artists, with more than 600 works by Florence Martel's students from all over the region, covering all generations and painting techniques.
Programme of festivities :
Saturday 20 September
10am: Dictation "as in 1875" at the Victor Hugo multimedia library (20 min children / 60 min adults), based on a text by a former teacher from Gorron.
10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm: Guided tours of the 150 years of the church exhibition.
10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm: Fun treasure hunt with riddles to discover or rediscover the history and architecture of the church, with prizes to be won.
10.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm: Slide show on the work carried out to restore Gorron church.
10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm: Time capsule stand.
10.00 am - 6.00 pm: Exhibition at the Espace Colmont featuring works by Florence Martel's pupils.
Sunday 21st September
10.00 am - 6.00 pm: Exhibition at the Espace Colmont, Florence Martel.
11.30am: Presentation of the exhibition 150 years of the church.
11.30am - 4pm: Time capsule stand.
11.30am - 5pm: Treasure hunt.
10am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm: Free photo exhibition on the 150 years of the church.
11.30am - 5pm: Slide show on the renovation of the church.
12.00 - 2.30pm: Giant picnic on the forecourt, with tables and chairs available. Everyone is invited to bring their own meal for a convivial moment.
This celebration, which combines remembrance, creation and conviviality, promises to be a high point for the community and we invite all residents to take part.
