As part of the European Heritage Days, discover the Cavier de la Guénaudière mill!
The Cavier de la Guénaudière mill takes its name from the cellar on which it is built. Mills known as "caviers" appeared in the XVIᵉ century south of the Loire and were built until the mid XIXᵉ century. Listed as a historic monument in 1984, this is the last of its kind in Mayenne.
Located in the commune of Grez-en-Bouère, it was built in 1830, to assist a water mill located on the edge of the pond at the bottom of the hill, now in ruins. The mill was in operation for less than a century, as the Industrial Revolution between 1880 and 1890 saw the end of flour production due to the advent of steam engines. Free outdoor access.
> Guided tours on Sundays at 10am and 3pm (registration required on 02 43 64 37 44).
