As part of the European Heritage Days, discover the Chapelle Saint-Lézin in Congrier.
This small chapel in the commune bears witness to its devotion to the oldest protector of slate quarry workers: Saint-Lézin, a monk and later bishop of Angers, who discovered the fissility of slate at the end of the 5th century and taught workers how to quarry it. From this date onwards, slate, which was only used as a building material for walls, was used in thin slabs on the roofs of buildings. Saint-Lézin had his house covered with it. Free admission.
