For the 42nd edition of the European Heritage Days, the château team is once again offering a full programme of events aimed at the widest possible audience.
Programme for the day:
- Historical entertainment: "The Wars of Religion" from 10am to 6pm:
The Compagnie Les Lames de Sévigné is offering a new historical animation linked to a little-known episode in the military history of the Château de Sainte-Suzanne: the Wars of Religion at the end of the 16th century. For the occasion, several sequences have been devised for the public: duelling fencing, musket and harquebus firing demonstration, evolution of bladed weapons, presentation of military units, etc.

- Flash visits from 10.30 am to 6 pm
Duration: 30 minutes. Free admission.
Every 30 minutes, the guides at the Château de Sainte-Suzanne invite you to discover or rediscover the site during flash visits on a variety of themes.
- Guided tour of the fortress from 11am to 12pm and from 4pm to 5pm
In just one hour, relive 1,000 years of the fortress's history! A guide will take you through the eventful history of the two sieges carried out in the Middle Ages by William the Conqueror's troops and then by the English during the Hundred Years' War. He will also present two of the site's most emblematic monuments: the Romanesque keep and the dwelling built in the early 17th century. This is a great opportunity to take a look at the architectural development of the site.

Visit to the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre) in the château from 10am to 7pm: Adapted to all types of disability, the CIAP in Sainte-Suzanne will enable you to discover the rich heritage of the Mayenne region from a historical, archaeological, natural and intangible point of view. Free admission.
