EXPOSITION "ARCHEOPLASTICA"

  • Exhibition
Musée du château de Mayenne, Place Juhel, 53100 Mayenne
The Archeoplastica exhibition is a project designed to raise public awareness of the marine pollution caused by plastic and to promote more conscious use of this material.
The idea took shape in 2018, when a bottle of sun cream dating from the 1960s was found on a beach in Puglia, Italy. Since then, dozens of pieces of old washed-up rubbish have been collected, dating from the late 1950s to the 1980s, often intact and with graphics that are still perfectly legible.

The exhibition presents a selection of these relics collected on various Italian beaches: objects that tell incredible stories, often reconstructed thanks to the contribution of the vast community on Instagram. The experience invites visitors to become aware of the serious environmental crisis threatening our planet.

Plastic pollution in the seas is one of the most critical ecological emergencies for natural ecosystems. The aim of Archeoplastica is to get people thinking about this problem and to stimulate a change of attitude towards disposable plastic, by promoting more responsible and sustainable behaviour.

In partnership with the town of Jesi (Italy).
