Located in a former artist's house in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, this private museum is open all year round by appointment. Booking recommended, maximum 10 people, free admission. Bed and breakfast also available.
"ink&clay": "ink" refers to prints and "clay" to ceramics. Works by contemporary artists.
A permanent collection:
A permanent collection of prints and ceramics is on display in the former salon, the centrepiece of the house. You'll discover prints hung on picture rails: a wide range of graphic, black-and-white or coloured, figurative or abstract works. The same goes for ceramics: a wide range of figurative and abstract works in a variety of styles and techniques, displayed on specially adapted furniture. It's a whole cultural heritage where the artisanal and the artistic come together.
Temporary exhibitions:
In what was once the dining room of the house, you will enter the temporary exhibition space. There are three exhibitions a year, featuring contemporary prints and ceramics. Each time a duo of artists.
In the former kitchen, which has been converted into a shop, you'll find a selection of contemporary prints and ceramics, with the aim of offering a wide range of quality works at very attractive prices.
The sculpture garden :
Opposite the house, stroll through a garden planted with wisteria, yew, ginkgo biloba, camellias, fig trees, persimmon, roses, lavender and more. An enclosed, privileged environment in the heart of the city, where you'll come across stoneware ceramics with a wide range of expressions. Take a seat on the terrace and enjoy the view "between the roofs" over the Mayenne.
