The Contrie dolmen is the most interesting prehistoric monument preserved in Mayenne. The covered walkway at La Contrie is 7 m long and 1.50 m wide. It was a collective burial site.
he two covered walkways of Ernée, the dolmens of La Contrie and La Tardivière, are even more deeply rooted in time, attracting the curiosity of prehistory enthusiasts, who can also visit the Municipal Museum, a benchmark in the field of archaeology.
The covered alleyway at La Contrie, formerly known as the "Cave-Au-Diable", is located in the small Bérenger wood, a stone's throw from a small stream near Les Bizeuls. It is 7m long and 1.50m wide.
At the time it was built, the stones were not set so deep into the ground. The roof stones were covered by a tumulus (a mound of earth). The pathway consisted of 5 stones to the east and 6 to the west (2 of which are now broken). It was covered by 3 huge tables, which have now been moved to the east.
