The Communauté de Communes du Pays de Craon's waste department is organising a conference on natural gardening and the reduction and recycling of garden waste.
During this conference, you will discover :
-How to easily improve the soil in your vegetable garden by adding value to your organic waste or "green waste".
-How to increase your soil's capacity to retain water in summer while avoiding excess moisture in winter.
How to prepare the soil for sowing and planting in a simple, environmentally-friendly way.
-How to reduce garden maintenance and the amount of plant waste using mulching, dry hedges or benje and composting.
Denis Pépin, agricultural engineer, ecologist, author and lecturer, will be sharing his techniques for gardening naturally, effortlessly, preserving the soil and promoting biodiversity.
A specialist in soil science, Denis Pépin worked for twenty-five years in the urban planning and environment department of Rennes Métropole before devoting himself to journalism, writing, lecturing and training. He is one of the pioneers of alternatives to chemical pesticides.
A self-taught gardener, he applies his agronomic and ecological knowledge to his garden, transforming hard earth into soft, lumpy soil, maintaining hedges, orchards and flowers without chemicals, composting all garden waste and protecting the soil with mulch.
He also offers guided tours and training courses at his Jardin des Pépins in Cesson-Sévigné, and contributes to the magazines Les 4 Saisons du jardin bio and L'Ami des Jardins. His garden was awarded the Grand Prix in the national competition "Jardinier autrement en faveur du climat et de la biodiversité" in 2022, having already won the Grand Prix for vegetable gardens in 1998 and 2017.
