You can cycle in safety in Mayenne thanks to the 128 km of former railway lines that have been converted into cycle trails and the 85 km of towpaths that follow the length of the river Mayenne. You can even cross the whole department by bike.

Specially adapted, the former boatmen’s towpath that runs along 85 km of the river Mayenne is now a paradise for hikers and cyclists alike, and with its flat surface it’s just perfect for cycling with the whole family.
Or choose part of the 128 km of former railway lines that provide a safe option for a great day out, whether you’re walking, cycling or on horse-back.
And what’s more, the roads in Mayenne are pretty traffic free, a real advantage for cyclists who can meander peacefully through the open countryside and breathe in the clean fresh air.
From castles to quaint villages, bathing spots to picnic areas, you can really take your foot off the pedal and relax.
